The 50 Book Project: #3 Simple Longstitched Felt Journal
Welcome to week 3 of The 50 Book Project. This week I made what I thought was going to be a quick and easy binding: a simple long stitched book. I followed this long stitch tutorial by Erica Munoz and chose for the cover material a piece of navy felted wool.
The felted wool was tricky to work with because it was hard to mark the sewing stations on the dark fabric. Full disclosure – some of the stitching didn’t quite line up 🙁 So to remedy the uneven appearance of the spine I cinched the center two sections and sewed on buttons. I sewed on a decorative button on the flap and two snaps as the closure.
