Announcing the 50 Book Project
I’m excited to announce a new project that I’ll be doing in 2015, The 50 Book Project. In the next 12 months, I’ll create 50 different book structures and share them on my blog every Saturday. 50 books is one per week and at the end of the year we’ll have a round up and celebrate!
I have 3 goals for the project:
1. Learn new bindings and improve my bookbinding skills
There are so many different and amazing ways to make books! I have shelves filled with inspiring books, 500+ pins on Pinterest and dozens of bookmarked sites on my computer – all about handmade books. This project will force me to actually make some of these cool structures, learn some new techniques and improve my skills along the way.
2. Allow time for personal work
In 2014 I didn’t allow enough time to create personal work. I was busy making travel journals for my customers, moving studios, working 2 jobs and traveling. All good things, but I missed making one-off projects just for me, not related to the business. I’m looking forward to stretching myself and making new bindings just for the fun of it.
3. Connecting with others
I mentioned in my January 1st post that I regret not blogging more in 2014 and I hope The 50 Book Project will remedy that. I also hope to connect with more blog readers and those interested in handmade books. Plus the accountability of having to post a project every Saturday will keep me on honest 🙂
I hope you’ll join me on The 50 Book Project journey. If you don’t want to miss a post, sign up for my weekly newsletter and the new project will come straight to your inbox. The first project is in the blog post immediately below this one.
I hope you have a happy and creative new year!
