As many of you know, Vintage Page Designs and the Handmade Book Club are far from a one-woman show. Behind the scenes, I’m supported by an incredible group of individuals who help keep everything running smoothly. I lovingly refer to them as the “VPD Dream Team.”

Since we all work remotely, it’s rare that we get to spend time together in person. While remote work offers many benefits, there’s something truly special about gathering face to face—sharing ideas, sparking creativity, and deepening our connection as a team. That’s why I believe in setting aside time each year for a retreat. It gives us the space to recharge, realign, and reconnect on a meaningful level—and recently, we had the chance to do just that.
The team and I spent a joy-filled, inspiring week surrounded by the breathtaking red rock landscapes of Arizona—and what a rejuvenating experience it was!

Our time together was a beautiful blend of collaboration, connection, and creativity. It was the perfect opportunity to dream big, exchange ideas, and explore new ways to grow and serve our creative communities in Vintage Page Designs and the Handmade Book Club.
Of course, it wasn’t all work! We balanced our planning sessions with some time away from our Airbnb.
We dined and shopped in the historic town of Cottonwood.

We took in stunning views on a Pink Jeep tour and even grounded ourselves barefoot at Airport Mesa, one of Sedona’s vortex sites.

We spent a relaxing day at the Wilde Resort and Spa, followed by a delightfully delicious lunch.

We even had time for some hands-on creativity! Our gelli printing session was a colorful, messy, and absolutely fun highlight. There’s something about getting your hands full of paint and paper that brings out everyone’s inner artist.

Arizona offered the perfect backdrop for this retreat. We shared amazing meals, swapped stories, and soaked in the breathtaking beauty of the area. From the peaceful desert scenery to the vibrant local energy, it was the kind of setting that nourishes both the soul and the imagination.

More than anything, we cherished the simple joy of being together. Laughing, creating, exploring, and just enjoying each other’s company reminded us why we do what we do—and how lucky we are to do it together.
We’re heading back to our daily routines feeling recharged and inspired, and we can’t wait to share the creative fruits of this retreat with you all soon!

HI! I’M ALI MANNING
Years ago, I learned about handmade books, and ever since then, I’ve been hooked. I love creating new designs, learning about different techniques, and expanding my collection of paper. But what I love most about bookmaking is the community.
Through Vintage Page Designs and the Handmade Book Club, I’ve met thousands of other passionate bookmakers, mixed-media artists, and crafters. We all share a love of book arts and crafting, just for the joy of it.
I believe that bookbinding and book arts are for everyone, regardless of skill level or equipment. All you need is a little creativity and, of course, paper!
Many thanks for inspiring me to create.
For me , art is my therapy. It keeps me from sinking and keeps me focussed.
I work full time atm but try and find time just to do something each day if I can
