If you’re like me, you love anything mini, especially when it comes to an itty-bitty notebook! Miniature notebooks are a fun and easy way to keep memories, give as party favors, store small squares of art, or use up your gelli prints and paste papers. This project is one of my favorite structures, often called the Squash or Dragon Book.
Here’s an example of a mini photo memory book I made several years ago.
When opened up, it features photos from a day trip my family and I took to the beach.
Here’s one I created using paste paper.
And here’s one I made with some lovely handmade paper.
Making these little books is incredibly simple and satisfying. They’re also a great project to do with your kids or grandkids! You can incorporate themes for holidays or make memory books for weddings, graduations, birthday parties, and special celebrations.

Once you’ve created your itty-bitty books, I’d love to see your work! Share them with me on instagram or comment below to let me know what you featured in your mini book.
Hi! I’m Ali Manning
Years ago, I learned about handmade books, and ever since then, I’ve been hooked. I love creating new designs, learning about different techniques, and expanding my collection of paper. But what I love most about bookmaking is the community.
Through Vintage Page Designs and the Handmade Book Club, I’ve met thousands of other passionate bookmakers, mixed-media artists, and crafters. We all share a love of book arts and crafting, just for the joy of it.
I believe that bookbinding and book arts are for everyone, regardless of skill level or equipment. All you need is a little creativity and, of course, paper!
