Encaustic Book
Last year I attended an annual artist book show called Beyond the Book in Boston (I wrote a blog post about it here). I decided to enter one of my own this year, an encaustic artist book, and it was accepted.
It’s an accordion structure made from handmade paper embedded with straw, which you see on the back of the book really well (below).
The inside of the book has layers of encaustic medium and paint.
Embedded in the encaustics are dried leaves and the words of a poem by Mary Oliver called In Blackwater Woods.
The book is held together with some tea dyed twine.
If you live locally you can see the show at the Brighton and Faneuil Branches, Boston Public Library from November 12th, 2016 — January 28th, 2017.

Your books are beautiful – I am so inspired each and every time I come by here – thank you for sharing. I am in Montreal – not so far from Boston – would love to attend one of the workshops

What a beautiful book, and I love Mary Oliver’s writings! You have inspired me to make some encaustic books, since I work in encaustics.
