Flutter Book
We’re approaching the end of my 50 Book Project, which started in January 2017 and over the past 2 years I’ve come to really love all the different accordion book structures. The Flutter Book is number 48 and is among my favorites.
Single folded signatures are arranged in the desired order and their fore-edges are glued together with narrow strip of adhesive. The pages of my book were double-sided circle-themed gelatin prints.
Two independent covers can be attached to the front and back pages or a one-piece cover can be made, which is what I did here. I made it from thick watercolor paper and decorated it with two strips of a left over print.
I like the way you can read a Flutter Book like a regular book but also display it as sculptural piece. If you want to give it a try, you might like this tutorial on YouTube by Rebecca Chamblee that explains how to make it.
