Inspired by Nature Card
I haven’t created a handmade card for ages – I mostly work in my art and travel journals right now. But while I was playing the weekly Splitcoast mixed media challenge, this card emerged.
The challenge was to combine glue or some type of acrylic medium with a coloring medium. I’ve worked with acrylic paint glazes before, but I’ve never tried mixing in ink sprays (Dylusions, in this case).
I had just a small amount of ink left in one of the Dylusions sprays, so figured this would be a good opportunity to use it up. I mixed about a tablespoon of Golden’s matt medium with a few drops of vibrant turquoise spray ink and mixed them together with a palette knife. I painted the mixture onto a background of old book pages, which had been dry brushed with gesso and allowed to dry.
Once the matt medium/acrylic ink was dry, I stamped a retired Stampin’ Up! image (Inspired by Nature) with Ranger’s black archival ink, inked around the edges and attached it to a grunged up piece of black card stock. I finished it with hand dyed silk ribbon and glued it to a Fabriano watercolor card.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
