Interview with Book Artist DJ Gaskin
I had the great pleasure of hosting a presentation by book artist DJ Gaskin on her recent series of unique artists’ books constructed around vintage kitchen utensils. DJ very kindly created a handout for this presentation: Considerations for Making Books from Found Objects.
DJ Gaskin is an artist working in mixed-media and acrylic painting, collage, bookbinding, and artist’s books. She lives in the mountains of western North Carolina with two studio cats. Her art has been exhibited in galleries locally, in the Washington D.C. area, and elsewhere.
DJ has been teaching bookmaking workshops for more than ten years. Her current book art projects include a series of unique artists’ books constructed around vintage kitchen utensils, and another book series integrated within matchboxes. DJ is also a poet and occasionally features her own, and others’, poems within her book art
