Long Stitch Journal with Handmade Paper
One of my favorite types of long stitch binding is this long stitch with packing. It’s a good beginner binding because each signature is sewn in individually.
I wrote a tutorial for this binding with a leather cover but it can also be made with a thick handmade paper cover. Here I used the pink paper from the June Paper Club. Score two lines 1/4″ from the first and last row of stitches to form the cover.
Quick Tip
Add a strip of card stock or bristol board to reinforce the spine. Secure in place with glue stick or double-stick tape before punching your sewing holes.
Another great thing about this binding is that you can use different thread colors.

Thank you Ali for this tutorial. I shall be trying it on my next book. I like the idea of using different coloured linen. Directions very easy to follow. Regards Merilyn.
