Pamphlet Palooza
Every month, I teach a new bookbinding project to the Handmade Book Club. October’s project was called the Pamphlet Palooza.
The Pamphlet Palooza binding is a fun and easy book, great for all skill levels. It can be customized with whatever paper you like to work with and can be made as thick or thin as you wish. The nice thing is that it opens flat, which makes it perfect for journaling, sketching, doodling, zentangling, etc.
Here’s the Pamphlet Palooza I created:

I used 12 booklets, with 8 folded pages in each, but it can be made with more or less depending on how chunky you want your book to be. The covers can be thicker paper, such as watercolor, mixed media, handmade paper, or Kraft-tex. I had a lot of fun with the spine, using scraps of ribbon, fabric, and fibers. This is certainly one of those projects where you can spice it up with bits and strips you have on hand.
Club Members’ Pamphlet Paloozas
Here are some examples of what our club members made. I’m always amazed by the creative liberty taken from the simple instructions I give!

What is the Handmade Book Club?
The Handmade Book Club grew out of my love for teaching and community. Having spent more than 10 years teaching in-person classes, I decided to reach a wider audience in 2019 and founded the online Handmade Book Club.
The Handmade Book Club is a community of bookmakers from around the world. Each month, I teach a new book binding project to the club members. In addition to making books, we love learning about ways to fill our handmade journals. That’s why we have guest artists and speakers join us every month! Club members also have access to a robust selection of past projects within the archives.
Whether you’re an experienced bookmaker or a complete novice, the Handmade Book Club is a community for you. You can try out a free book project here.
We’d love to have you join us! Sign up for the waitlist!
