Simple Japanese Stab Bound Book

Just a quick share today – a simple 4-hole Japanese stab binding that I spiffed up with the addition of a cross pattern on the spine.

4 Hole Japanese Stab BindingThe covers are thick handmade paper embedded with bay leaves which works beautifully with the hand torn handmade paper pages inside. The handmade paper made the book block quite thick, so I used a hand drill with a 3/32″ bit to create the sewing holes.

If you need more Japanese stab binding inspiration, check out the Pinterest board I created.
