Studio News
I have some updates from my studio to share with you today.
I’m excited to be heading to Portland, Oregon in March for the very first Pioneer Nation organized by Chris Guillebeau, one of the founders of World Domination Summit and author of The $100 Start Up. I’ll let you know how it goes.
Before Christmas I mentioned that I was working on a new album design with plastic photo sleeves – something customers have been requesting for ages. I officially introduced the new design into the store at the beginning of the year and so far sales are going well.
But like every new product it’s evolving as customers buy and use it. I’ve had a number of requests to include plain paper pages as well as the photo sleeves, so I plan to add that as an option. You never really know how a product is going to be received until you launch it and then you tweak the design as you go.
I’m currently working on another new book design, which shouldn’t take as long to make as the album with photo sleeves – it’s an accordion travel journal sized for Instagram pictures. I’m really excited about it because it will come in at a lower price point than some of my other books. This will give those who are nervous about journaling an opportunity to give it a try without investing in one of my more expensive pieces.
Finally, I’m going to take the plunge and rent studio space this year. I live near two mill cities, Lowell and Nashua, which have wonderful old mills that have been converted into artist studios. I’m on the waiting list for space in one building that I really like, but it’s possible that a studio will become vacant in a different building sooner. In the meantime, I’ve been pinning inspiration photos onto a Pinterest board like a crazy woman – check it out if you’d like to be inspired.
