Summer Tags
I’ve been back from my vacation in the UK for a week now and I’ve finally managed to catch up with life (laundry, bills, emails, grocery shopping etc). So, I gave myself some time to play this weekend on a fun Splitcoast challenge to create a mixed media summer tag.
The first tag is a jumbo one measuring 8.5″ x 4″. To create the background I layered up watercolor paints with Ranger’s Distress and Archival inks in shades of yellow, orange and red. I added stenciling and stamping with the same inks, and added some stitching to finish. The white highlights on the Queen Anne’s Lace were created with a white correction pen. All stamp credits are at the end of the post.
The second tag is smaller measuring 6.25″ x 3″. This background was created in a very similar way with watercolor paints and Distress and Archival inks, but a thin wash of gesso toned down the brightness of this tag. There are small pieces of vintage dictionary paper on there as well as lots of stamping, and the final stitching around the edge. The word ‘create’ is formed from some old letter stickers I had kicking around.
I hope you have a sunny and creative week!
