The Bookmaker Collective
I’m excited to announce my participation in The Bookmaker Collective: a group of six book artists dedicated to spreading the bookmaking love. Discover new book making techniques or reimagine old ones as you create and construct artisan books from start to finish during six live workshop sessions.
All of the workshops will be presented live and in the comfort and convenience of your home on Zoom throughout the entire year of 2021. Every other month beginning in February you’ll have an opportunity to register for a live Zoom workshop. And don’t worry if you can’t attend live, we’re recording everything and everyone who registers will receive the entire recorded class link via email within 48 hours of the class conclusion.
You will have the option of purchasing a kit to go with the workshops that will be mailed to your home prior to the workshop. You can purchase the full Monty (if bookmaking is newer to you) or just the special items for the class that even the most advanced bookmaker may not own. Or purchase nothing. All supply lists will be posted well in advance, attend the class, get really creative and use what you have-it’s entirely up to you! Shipping to US only.
Who are these mysterious book artists you ask?
Andrea Chebeleu is the artist and entrepreneur behind A Work of Heart Studio, a public workspace and art supply shop in San Jose California since 1998. Andrea enjoys all creative pursuits but mixed media, art journaling, watercolor and sketch journaling rise to the top of the list. Handmade books have always been a passion no matter what medium Andrea is working in. Her favorite approach is to use either non-traditional supplies for making a book or turning old art into new books. Her work has been featured in Art Journaling Magazine, Jewelry Affaire and Belle Armoire Jewelry. Andrea loves to teach and in 2020 most of her in-person classes were converted to live zoom classes.
DeeDee Catron of DeeDee Catron and UmWowStudio is a Mixed Media Artist residing in Las Vegas, NV. She has been an artist her entire life. The term “Mixed Media” was coined for her. She’s also {very honored to be} a worldwide teacher, both online & in person. Inspiring others makes her soul happy & keeps her heart full.
Kristin Peterson of AlteredStatesStudios is a third generation artist, originally from South Dakota. Kristin is always ex- ploring and expanding the creative depths of journal making. She is passionate about vintage collage and mixed media. Kristin loves color and things that have a love-worn comfortable feeling. Her journals contain a vibrance mixed with a little funk, and sprinkled with sensibility.
Tiff Goff Smith, the gal behind Southern Gals Designs. She lives on the gulf coast of Alabama with her husband and fur/ feathered children. She’s a creative alchemist who enjoys bookmaking, her most favorite books are made from the discarded unusual treasures. Taking what most would say is junk and throwing it out, she gives it new life and it brings her refuge from the storms of the world.
Wendy Solganik of WillaWanders is a life long artist and crafter, currently working in book arts, mixed media and watercolor. From production wheel pottery to scrapbooking to knitting and so many more passions, Wendy always dives deep to master a craft. After a fifteen year stint as the co-owner of Luscious Verde, a successful, Louie award-winning, custom invitation design, printing and manufacturing company, you can find Wendy at home in her studio, crafting handmade, colorful, and highly custom art journals for clients while caring for her large extended family.
