Vintage Fabric Book
I’ve been collecting vintage fabrics and sewing notions for years, but I’ve never really done anything with them. It only recently occurred to me to create fabric books with them – duh! Here’s the first of hopefully many books made with my stash.
The cover is a piece of vintage linen that I embroidered with a flower and the word bloom. The stem and word are tiny back stitches and the flower is french knots and seed beads.
The inside cover is the same vintage linen with 2 pockets made from an old handkerchief that I embellished with french knots, running stitch and buttons.
To finish the book, I put a piece of thin quilt batting between the 2 covers and blanket stitched it all together. Once finished, I made one signature from an old ledger and cut the scraps into little strips for the pockets.
I used a very simple pamphlet stitch and embroidery floss to attach the signature to the book.
Have you ever made fabric books? I’d love to know – leave me a comment and/or link below. Happy creating 🙂

This is just lovely! And using ledger paper for the pages was brilliant.
